Comment count module

Updated 16 September 2026

How many comments each result has, with a word to explain the number.

In short

Comment Count shows the number of comments on each result. The number is all the module produces on its own, so a prefix or a suffix supplies the word that makes sense of it - each can be text or an icon, and both are Pro.

Prefix and Suffix

The count comes from the post. What you add is what sits around it.

Setting What it does Plan
Prefix Something before the number. Switch it on, choose Text or Icon, and set it. ★ PRO
Suffix Something after the number. Same again, chosen separately. ★ PRO
PRO

The word that makes the number mean something

On its own this module shows a bare number, and a number sitting in a listing beside a date and an author tells nobody what it counts. With CAF Pro a prefix and suffix put that right - a word after it, or a speech-bubble icon in front doing the same job in less space. It is the difference between 12 and 12 comments.

At least one of them is worth having. On its own the module shows a bare number, and a number floating in a listing beside a date and an author tells nobody what it counts. A suffix is the usual answer; a speech-bubble icon as a prefix does the same job in less space.

A number, and the wording that explains it.

Tip

Look at what this module shows on a post with no comments before deciding to use it. A listing where most items read zero draws attention to the quiet ones - on a new site or a shop, that's often a reason to leave the module out.

Styling

How it looks comes from the Design tab, with the usual groups - Layout, Text, Sizing, Spacing, Background, Border and Box Shadow - and Layout arranges the number against whatever sits beside it.

Like the date and the author, this is supporting information rather than the point of the item, so it usually wants to be smaller and quieter than the title.

FAQ

It's just showing a number with no explanation.

Switch on a prefix or suffix and set the wording - that's where the word comes from.

Can I use an icon instead of a word?

Yes - set the Content Type to Icon.

Can I hide it on posts with no comments?

Not from this module. If most of your posts have none, it's usually better left out of the item altogether.
